Is your chimney deteriorating, leaking or you just don’t use it anymore?
We conduct many chimneystack repairs as part of our general workload. Chimneystacks often seem to be the cause of many leaks into domestic properties through perished lead work and flashings. We also see many loose chimney pots and poor flaunching around the top of chimneystacks which can cause falling debris. Whenever possible dormant or disused chimneystacks should be either reduced in height and capped off or completely removed from the roof to ensure they are unable to cause property damage or harm to the public.
We believe repointing should be carried out when the existing cement mortar is failing to ensure existing chimneystacks are safe, secure and protected against the elements.
If you no longer use you chimney for any reason there’s always the option to remove it below your roofline to prevent further issues of damp or leaking in the future.
